Kathleen Weil leaves the Foundation of Greater Montreal
On November 3, 2008, Kathleen Weil resigned as President and CEO of the Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM), following her decision to run as a candidate in the forthcoming provincial elections. She had held this position since the beginning of the FGM in 2000.

The Foundation of Greater Montreal’s (FGM) Grant program is growing. More and more Montrealers are creating permanent endowment funds devoted to improving the well-being of their fellow citizens through the FGM. As a result, the FGM is granting two million dollars this year to support registered charitable organizations in and around Montreal. “Thanks to our donors, we now have sufficient funds to be able to play a significant philanthropic role and have a real influence on the quality of life of Montrealers,” declared Kathleen Weil, President and CEO, FGM.

Montreal Region’s Annual Check-up Released
(Montreal, October 2nd, 2007) The Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM) released today its second annual check-up on the health of Greater Montreal entitled Greater Montreal’s Vital Signs. At the same time, the Community Foundations of Canada released the first Vital Signs national report, and local reports were issued in ten other Canadian cities.

More good news for donors and their professional advisors In the June 29, 2006 Information Bulletin 2006-2, the Ministère des Finances du Québec announces the harmonization to certain measures of the federal budget of May 2, 2006. One of the measures retained was "the elimination of capital gains tax resulting from a gift of publicly-listed securities and ecologically sensitive land (BR 18)."
