PRESS RELEASE - Richard W. Pound re-elected as Chair of the Foundation of Greater Montreal

Montreal, June 2nd, 2014 – Mr. Richard W. Pound was re-elected as Chair of the Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM) for a fourth consecutive year at the FGM’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Thursday, May 29th, 2014. A member of the International Olympic Committee and the Founding Chair and member of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Mr. Pound is internationally renowned for his professional accomplishments and for his social engagement. He holds the position of Counsel in the Montreal office of Stikeman Elliott, where he specializes in tax litigation and negotiations with tax authorities.

Mr. Pound embarks on his fourth year as FGM’s Chair with enthusiasm: “The Assembly noted the FGM’s great progress over the last year and I am honored by the confidence the board of directors has vested in me. It is a great pleasure for me to lead a team of committed individuals who share a common vision of the FGM’s development.”

The FGM’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yvan Gauthier, thanked Mr. Pound for once again accepting the role of Chair: “Mr. Pound’s commitment is very precious to us. This coming year, we will draw on our ability to bring people together and pursue our development with the objective of making the year 2017, Montreal’s 375th anniversary, a year of marked positive change for the whole Greater Montreal community.”

During the 2014 AGM, the mandate of the following board members was renewed for a 2-year term: Monique Jérôme-Forget, Special Advisor, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt; geneviève bich, Vice President, Human Resources, Metro Inc.; Alice Herscovitch, General Manager, Montreal Holocaust Memorial Center; Roland Lescure, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec; Jean Camerlain, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Centraide of Greater Montreal; Jean-Guy Gourdeau, President, Solstice Financial Group Inc.; Normand Grégoire, ex-Vice President, Investments, Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon; and Michael Novak, consultant. The FGM’s board of directors is composed of 18 members including Karim Salabi, President, Salabi Conseil, who was newly elected for a 2-year term. Before founding his own company, Mr. Salabi held the positions of Executive Vice-President, Marketing, at Rona Inc. and of Vice-President, Marketing, at Autodesk and Fido. Since 2012, he is a member of the board of directors at Centraide of Greater Montreal.

The Foundation of Greater Montreal congratulates all the members of the board and extends its deepest appreciation to two board members whose term ended in 2014:  Mr. Tim Brodhead, FGM founding member and board member from  2000-2002 and 2011-2014, and Mr. Pierre L. Comtois, FGM board member from  2008-2014.
